Overview
This article describes how to configure a location to use the Dual Pricing feature in Genius for Restaurants locations, and how dual priced items are displayed in the POS, the CFD, and printed customer receipts.
The Dual Pricing feature enables you to configure the POS to automatically apply a markup or markdown amount to all menu items in a ticket, calculated as a percentage of each item’s original price, depending on whether the customer pays the ticket with cash or a credit card.
Locations can only be configured to use the Dual Pricing feature by Global Payments employees and users with Reseller permissions. A location cannot use the Dual Pricing feature simultaneously with Cash Discount, Surcharges, or Supplemental Fees.
Configuring Dual Pricing
- Log into the Dealer Connect website, and access the Dual Pricing form.
- In the Request Type list, select an appropriate request type.
If you are requesting a new dual pricing configuration, select New Dual Pricing Setup. If you are requesting an update to an existing configuration, select Update to Existing Dual Pricing Configuration. - In the Dealership Name box, type the name of your dealership.
- In the Dealership Email box, type your dealership's email address.
- In the Account Name box, type the name of the account that you will use the dual pricing configuration.
- In the Location Name box, type the name of the location that will use the dual price and configuration.
- In the Dual Pricing Calculation Method list, select the appropriate calculation method.
If you select Percentage % Markup, the POS will use each item's current price as its Cash Price, and calculate each item's Card Price by adding a markup amount equal to a percentage (set in the Dual Pricing Percentage box) of its current price. If you select Percentage % Markdown, the POS will use each item's current price as its Card Price, and calculate each item's Cash Price by deducting a markdown amount equal to a percentage (set in the Dual Pricing Percentage box) of its current price.
- In the Dual Pricing Percentage (%) box, enter the percentage amount that the POS will use when calculating markup or markdown prices.
- In the Rounding Options list, select how the POS will round recalculated item prices up or down to the desired increment.
If you select Round Up, the POS will round recalculated prices up to the next increment.
If you select Round Down, the POS will round recalculated prices down to the next increment.
If you select Round Nearest, the POS will round recalculated prices to the nearest increment, either up or down.
If you select No Rounding (Default), the POS will not round its recalculated prices. - If you selected a rounding option, select a desired rounding increment in the What increment of rounding would you like to use? list.
You can select one of the following increments: .05 (default), .10, .50, .99, 1.00, and .X9. - In the When would you like this enabled? calendar box, select the date when you want your request to be enabled.
- Click Submit to submit the request.
Once the form is submitted, a team member will notify you when the changes have been made.
Once the dual pricing settings are enabled, you cannot edit these settings while it is running. To change the calculation method, the markup or markdown percentages, or the rounding method, you must submit a new request in the Dual Pricing form.
Dual Pricing on the POS
After you enable and configure the location to use Dual Pricing, the POS will recalculate the prices of items automatically, based on the location’s calculation method (either marking up Card prices or marking down Cash prices), and display the prices comparatively when you pay the ticket. When you tap Checkout and access the Checkout screen, the app will display Cash and Card prices in separate columns in the ticket panel.
The POS will also display the ticket with Cash and Card prices in the Customer Facing Display.
Likewise, the also includes the Cash and Card columns on Customer Receipts printed before payment.
In the Payment options screen, the POS will apply Cash Prices to tickets paid with the Cash or Gift payments options. It will use Card Prices for tickets paid with Card and Custom Tender payment options.
After the customer chooses a payment option and pays the ticket, the POS will only list the prices of the applied calculation method (either Cash Prices or Card Prices) on newly printed receipts.
Dual Pricing is a location-level setting. Therefore, Dual Pricing cannot be edited with the Bulk Editor tool.
Locations using Dual Pricing can apply location overrides to items.
While Dual Pricing is enabled, other platforms (such as Kiosk, Online Ordering, and Classic POS) will use Card Prices only in their ticket calculations.
