Payroll → Time Entry → Individual Time Entry → Select an Employee → Eye icon
When the payroll data for the additional check has been entered, we can select the Eye icon under the Actions column to review it.
The preview contains the gross wages, deductions, taxes, and net pay. Select the (🔽) or (🔼) to expand or collapse the Post As Manual check line at the top right to view the Check Date, Period Begin/End Dates, and the Check Number, which are all editable fields. If edits are made to these dates, they will only display on the physical check stub and will not alter your payroll reports or processing dates. If the payroll data needs to be adjusted after reviewing the preview, select the X or Close Preview buttons in the top right corner to return to the grid.

Post as Manual Check Section
We offer a detailed guide for creating and posting a manual check [See Manual Check Guide]. If you are writing the check in-house and need a stub in real-time, you can use the Post as Manual Check section to download a copy of the check stub. Manual Checks will not pay the employee on the scheduled payroll run. In the Heartland system, Manual Checks are used to record employee wages for tax purposes. The payroll system will view a Manual Check as funds already received by the employee from the employer.
Payroll Register
Payroll → Process Payroll → Preview/Process Payroll buttons
To review your next scheduled payroll run, select the blue Preview Payroll button, and the Last Preview Results section will appear in the bottom left. Select the Payroll Register from the Payroll Reports dropdown and select Go. The Payroll Register will show the employee’s different check types. You can review the Regular and Additional Checks in the preview. In our example, we can verify that the employee will be paid their regular wages and an Additional Check for the bonus.
