Taxes are the state tax percentage on goods and services a business offers, such as Alcohol Tax, Food Tax, Rental Tax, and Retail Tax.
To access the Taxes screen, log into the Admin Console, select an appropriate account. In the Admin Console’s Main Menu, click Menu, then click Taxes. In the Taxes screen, click New to create a new tax.
Name: Type a descriptive name for the new tax.
Default Amount: Enter the percentage amount of the tax as a decimal. For example, if the state’s alcohol tax is 7%, enter “7.0”.
Round Down Bracket Start: Enter the start of the “round down” range as a decimal.
If you have tax amounts resulting from non-whole dollar totals with cents that fall within the “round down” range, the POS will round them down. The POS will round up all tax amounts from totals falling outside the “round down” range.
For Florida General Sales Tax, this should be “0.01”, conforming to Florida’s Common Sales Tax Brackets.
Round Down Bracket End: Enter the end of the “round down” range as a decimal.
For Florida General Sales Tax, this should be “0.09”, conforming to Florida’s Common Sales Tax Brackets.
Repeating Brackets: Select this check box to use repeating brackets.
If you select this check box, the POS will round down the tax every time the taxable total falls in the bracket’s range.
If you clear this check box, the POS will only round down the tax the first time the taxable total falls within the bracket’s range.
Florida uses repeating brackets.
