Use this article to educate yourself about the Heartland POS Restaurant pricing model for Cash Discounting and to see if it is a fit for your business.
Requirements
- A $50,000 minimum annual volume
- PIN debit is not supported
- Surcharge is not supported
- A single rate applies for card present (CP) and card not present (CNP) transactions
- A flat rate of 3% to 4% is supported
- The merchant category code (MCC) compatibility for CP/CNP Flat Rate Pricing
Tip: When Cash Discount is selected for pricing, Daily Net is selected, Monthly or Daily Split becomes inaccessible, and a Cash Discounting Rate can be entered. Discount CP and Discount CNP is listed for all included Card Types.
Annual Volume
If your Annual Volume is below $50,000 in the Estimated Processing Activity section, the Cash Discounting option is disabled. Similarly, if you participate in Cash Discounting and the Annual Volume for your profile is changed to less than $50,000, a different pricing model must be selected.
PIN Debit
If PIN Debit is added as a Card Type in the Estimated Processing Activity section, the Cash Discounting Pricing option is disabled. This is because PIN Debit is not supported for any flat rate pricing model.
Surcharge
Cash Discounting and surcharge pricing models cannot be enabled simultaneously. When Cash Discounting is enabled, the Heartland Surcharge Program cannot be enabled. If the Heartland Surcharge Program is enabled, it must be disabled before Cash Discounting can be applied.
MCC Limitations
The MCC limitations are the same as the CP/CNP Flat Rate pricing model. If your MCC cannot support flat rate pricing, the Cash Discounting pricing model is inaccessible.
