Employees → Employee Wizard → Step 3
Your third section relates to Federal Income Tax and employee filing status types.
Here are links to the New Employee W-4 and the I-9 Verification Form.
Enter the information exactly how the employee filled out the forms.
See [Employee Taxes] for detailed information on filing types and alternative filing types to fit each employee’s needs.
If the Federal Income Tax section is left blank, the default Filing Status will be Single to ensure the maximum amount of Federal income withholding applies.
Here is an example of a W-4 Form and how it would be input into the Heartland Payroll system. Choose the filing status from the drop-down; there are toggles for Multiple Jobs and Block Tax. Block Tax is extremely uncommon; if toggled to Yes, no federal income tax will be withheld from the employee's check. For the dollar amount fields, enter just as completed on the W-4.
