Overview
This article describes how to configure a Heartland Retail site to process credit and gift card payments via Datacap using a supported Datacap device.
Requirements
- Merchant must be running version 6.50 or later of both Heartland Retail 6.50 (including Web and iOS platforms) and Heartland Retail Connect.
- Heartland Retail POS devices and Datacap payment devices must connect to same WiFi network.
- Merchants must meet the following minimum hardware and iOS specifications:

Configure Ingenico Device
Hosted Estate Manager Download
- From idle Screen press the “F” key.
- Select “Admin Mode”
- Use password 123456A then press Enter/Green key
- For A press 2 over and over until A appears on the screen
- Select “Tetra Admin”
- Select 1-Download Application
- Select 2-Start Download
- Press the Enter/Green Key when you see “Enter package name” No value is needed
- The device will reboot twice
Set Date and Time
- From the idle screen press the “F” key
- Select “Admin Mode”
- Use password 123456A then press Enter/Green key
- For A press 2 over and over until A appears on the screen
- Select “Tetra Admin”
- Select “Set Date and Time”
- To change Date click 1-Set Date
- Enter Date mm/dd/yy followed by Enter/Green Key
- To change Time click 2-Set Time
- Enter Time ie 13:31 for 01:31 followed by Enter/Green Key
Get IP From Ingenico
- From idle Screen press “.,#*” button
- Select 7-Terminal Info
- Select 2-Display Parameters
- Select 1-Communications Params
- Scroll to TerminalIP it will show the current IP for the Ingenico. You will need this for connecting to the POS
Configuring Heartland Retail
For each location, follow the steps below to configure Heartland Retail for Datacap processing.
- Go to Settings.
- Go to Credit Cards and then select Add Gateway.
- Select Datacap from the list, then enter the Merchant ID and Pinpad Serial Numbers (separated by a comma) in the modal that displays, and select Save.
You can find the serial number on a label on the bottom back of the device. If there are two labels, use the one on the bottom. - Go to POS Settings and choose the Datacap device from the Payment device dropdown.
Transaction Operations
Payments & Voids
- To add a credit or debit card payment:
- For in-store sales, tap the Tender button at the bottom of the screen.
- For sales orders, tap the Add Payment button along the right side of the screen.
- On the window that opens, tap the Add Payment Please note that the amount will default to the balance due. Should you wish to process a partial payment, simply enter the amount of the desired payment in the Amount box before processing the payment.
- Follow instructions on the payment device to complete the payment.
- To void a transaction:
- For credit card payments, tap the Void button next to the transaction detail in the lower portion of the screen.
- For debit card payments, since Datacap does not support debit voids, use the Return option as detailed in the next section.
Returns
- To process a credit card return, after selecting the desired ticket, tap the dropdown button to the left of the item to be returned and select Return.
- On the window that opens, tap the Add Return Please note that the amount will default to the full amount paid. Should you wish to process a partial refund, simply enter the amount of the desired refund in the Amount box before processing the refund.
- Follow instructions on the payment device to complete the transaction.
Datacap Transaction Portal
Datacap offers merchants a convenient online portal so that they may easily view transactions at any time.
